Experience Hires

We are always keen to receive applications from people with experience in our core technologies, services and markets. As with our graduates, we look for an excellent academic record including a minimum 2:1 degree from a good university.

Just as important is demonstrable technical expertise, strong client-facing skills and evidence of continued career progression. In return, we will help you develop your career through a variety of challenging projects and give you the opportunities to rapidly progress through the Company. The level of responsibility, client contact, variety of work and support we offer our staff is unique.

Our staff profiles on the right illustrate the breadth of exciting opportunities that we can offer you. Please go to our Current Opportunities page for a description of the areas in which we currently recruiting.

Career Development

Our career structure and culture allow staff to progress quickly to senior positions. Reflecting the diverse nature of our work, there is a wide range of different career paths you can follow to reach the very top of the organisation. We believe in giving you early responsibility to stretch and challenge you in whichever area of competence you are working. We do not have a time-served mentality; progression is based entirely upon performance.

To recognise the breadth of roles staff undertake we have developed a structured approach to career development. This allows you to very clearly see how your career could develop over time and allows you to understand the attributes you need to display for your next career step. Underpinning the career structure are our grades (in career progression order):

  • Consultant.
  • Senior Consultant.
  • Principal Consultant.
  • Senior Manager.
  • Managing Consultant.
  • Director.

At all stages of your career, your performance is regularly appraised through a formal review process. All promotions are based strictly on merit and will reflect your commercial, technical and managerial competence. Those with the necessary drive, commitment and ability will have the opportunity to reach the highest levels in the Company. A Career Counsellor is assigned to you before you join the company to give you career advice, help you navigate your career goals and objectives as well as undertaking the appraisals.

We are committed to ongoing staff development and training. On-the-job training to acquire skills and necessary knowledge, and structured training courses will be a regular feature of your working life.

Right from the word go you will be given the training to perform to the best of your ability. Our induction programme is an intense 5-day course (some of which is residential) and is designed to give you the background, understanding and tools to hit the ground running.

Thereafter, our training programme will help you establish the technical, commercial and managerial competencies you will need as you take on greater responsibility. Some of these courses have been developed in-house and are given by our own people, meaning they are tailored to our particular requirements. Other courses are given by external providers but are tailored from our own experiences and emphasise the way we do things.

Should you wish to gain further formal qualifications recognised as benefiting both yourself and the Company, we will consider providing support.

Other roles

Although much of your time is likely to be spent working on projects, there are a range of activities that you are encouraged to take part in to add to your experience and develop your career in other ways.

Recruiting is vital for our continued growth and we encourage people to take part from an early stage in their career. This includes representing troktechnology at graduate recruitment events, interviewing candidates and participating in hiring decisions.

Even before someone joins the company a Career Counsellor is assigned to them to help look after their general welfare, help guide their career development and undertake performance reviews. Usually once you have reached Principal Consultant grade we encourage you to consider becoming a Career Counsellor.

There are a number of other activities which you may get involved in during your time with us. These include writing proposals to win new work, developing our competencies and participating in working groups to help us continually improve the way we work.

How we work

You will join one of our business units according to your background and preference and our business needs. Staff satisfaction and continued career development is important to us. In allocating staff to projects therefore, we always consider your career development needs and aspirations.

Project allocation is done across the Company and is a delicate balancing of staff availability, skills required by projects as well as staff career development needs. We do need our staff to be flexible about the work they undertake. The majority of our work is done on client sites that may be well away from your base office, and you may work on projects which are not perfectly aligned with your aspirations. However, our rotation policy ensures that you and your aspirations are not forgotten about and project allocation is continually under review.

We offer rewards commensurate with ability, and recognise greater responsibility and competence through regular salary increases.

As you are promoted through the grades, each grade attracts additional benefits such as increased rewards through the (discretionary) bonus scheme. People at Principal Consultant grade and above are also offered a car allowance and enhanced pension contributions.

At all levels we provide:

  • A generous pension plan.
  • A discretionary performance-based bonus scheme.
  • Private medical care and travel insurance for you and your family.
  • Relocation assistance.
  • Health insurance.
  • Ongoing professional training in advanced technologies.
